Villegas Athletics – Go Patriots!

The middle school sports program is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of various sports while promoting teamwork, discipline, and a positive attitude toward physical activity. Emphasizing skill development, game strategies, and physical fitness, the program includes regular practices and skill-building clinics led by dedicated coaches and school staff.

Soccer, volleyball, flag football, basketball, Co-ed Cheer, and Co-ed Color Guard each have an 8-week skills clinic open to all interested students. During the clinics, coaches will hold tryouts to evaluate and select students to represent their school in competitive games against other middle schools in Alvord Unified School District. For Co-ed Cheer and Co-ed Color Guard, selected students will continue for an additional 16 weeks, participating in practices and performances at sporting events, culminating in a yearly championship. Track runs for 6 weeks and concludes with a district-wide track meet.

Please check the Weather tab for the current WBGT reading and weather information.

If the weather conditions are too hot to safely practice, I will send a notice to the email address registered with 6crickets. Please make sure your email information is current so you receive any important updates.

  • Our athletic programs prioritize the health and safety of all student-athletes. In accordance with CIF Southern Section guidelines, we follow established protocols for extreme heat and air quality to ensure safe participation in sports.

We utilize Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) readings from the Perry Weather system, with data collected from stations located near our school sites. These real-time measurements guide our decisions regarding practice and competition modifications, delays, or cancellations when conditions pose a risk.

Our commitment is to provide a safe environment where student-athletes can compete and train while minimizing exposure to potentially harmful weather conditions.

Activities and practices are modified based on current outdoor conditions.
